S. Yanik Double Dragon Sterling Silver Band Meerschaum Pipe - Pre-owned, highly collectible Sadik Yanik pipe was carved between the 1970's and 80's from the finest meerschaum and is lightweight for its size. The pipe was smoked just enough to start coloring. The S. Yanik signature is found on the end of the shank next to the sculpted sterling silver band that is stamped 900. The smooth bowl is detachable from the head of the large dragon. The large dragon faces a smaller one and both are carved in fine detail and look like a mother and child. The bent yellow stem complements the pipe. Great collector's pipe as well as a fine smoking pipe that is in excellent condition for a pre-smoked pipe with no visible chips or cracks. Comes in a velvet lined leather chest. Tamper is missing. 

Master Carver S. Yanik began his carving career at age 13 learning from his father. Keeping in the family tradition he taught his son, also a great carver, however neither father nor son carved in the elaborate and ornamental style with such fine detail as Sadik Yanik, a true master of this trade.

The pipe comes from the estate of Patrick Dean Hall of North Carolina, an avid gardener, lover of animals, and life-long passionate meerschaum pipe collector who loved to smoke his pipes.

This meerschaum pipe is hand carved from genuine 100% Solid Block Meerschaum and was imported directly from Turkey. After the pipe was carved it was dipped in beeswax to provide a protective coating and to also draw out smoke particles and tar. The pipe will color even more over time as it is smoked. The stem is made of a special Amberoid Acrylic for a nice finished look and long lasting durability.
