Viking Churchwarden Meerschaum Pipe - This wounded Viking wears a cross-hatched eye patch. His weathered face is carved in detail, showing tired eyes and a turned-down mouth with a moustache flowing into a full bushy beard. His helmet has a carving of an eagle on the front, framed by horns on each side, and holds down his long hair. The underside and shank of the pipe are carved in a geometric pattern and attach to a scrolled, designer-bent stem colored in marbled amber tones. The pipe was dipped in a special wax formula to give the finish a yellowed appearance.
In addition to its pleasing look, the long stem of a churchwarden pipe serves to keep smoke and heat further away from the pipe smoker's face. Along with the natural filtering quality of meerschaum, which is known to deliver a cool, dry smoking experience, a churchwarden stem allows smoke to cool even more as it travels the extra distance from the bowl to the end of the mouthpiece.
This meerschaum pipe is hand-carved from genuine 100% solid block meerschaum, and it is imported directly from central Turkey. After carving the pipe, it is dipped in beeswax to provide a protective coating, which also helps to draw out smoke particles and tar. The pipe will change color over time as you smoke it. The stem is made out of a special Amberoid acrylic, which provides a great finished look and long-lasting durability.
Since every solid block meerschaum pipe we sell is carved by hand, each pipe is a unique, one-of-a-kind piece of artistry. This hand-carved pipe comes in a specially made burgundy leather and velvet-lined brass hinged case. It is a custom fit and unique to this Viking churchwarden meerschaum pipe.
