Signed Savun Old Man Knurl Meerschaum Pipe

Signed Savun Old Man Knurl Meerschaum Pipe - Detailed carving by Savun of a long bearded old man smoking a very long churchwarden meerschaum pipe! He wears a nightcap with a tassel hanging over to one side. The lengthy beard serves as a platform allowing the pipe to sit without toppling over. Savun signed the pipe on the side of the shank where it connects to a knurl carved in a leaf pattern with a smooth band joining to a marbled bent stem. Although the pipe bowl is a bit on the small side the long beard and knurl make the pipe look large. It is finished with an antiqued look. 

A knurl is a piece of solid block meerschaum designed in either a carved or smooth finish. It fits on the shank of the meerschaum pipe and serves as an attractive extension. A knurl makes the shank longer thus increasing the overall length of the pipe. With this extension the smoke has further to travel with more time to cool down before reaching the end of the mouthpiece. Knurls on our meerschaum pipes have a Teflon threaded connector making it easy to remove when cleaning the pipe.

This meerschaum pipe is hand carved from genuine 100% Solid Block Meerschaum and imported directly from central Turkey. After the pipe is carved it is dipped in beeswax to provide a protective coating and to also draw out smoke particles and tar. The pipe will color over time as it is smoked. The stem is made of a special Amberoid Acrylic for a nice finished look and long lasting durability.

Every block meerschaum pipe we sell is carved by hand, so no two pipes are exactly the same. This hand-carved pipe comes in a custom made burgundy leather and velvet-lined brass hinged case which is a special fit and unique to this particular meerschaum pipe.
