Master Carver Sabri Three Dragons Meerschaum Pipe

Master Carver Sabri Three Dragons Meerschaum Pipe - Pre-owned, highly collectible Eyup Sabri 3 Dragons pipe was carved in 1988. The pipe was smoked and developed a light caramel coloring that will darken more if the pipe is smoked again. The three dragon heads are carved away from the decorative bowl and have long tails wrapping around the bottom and underside. The end of the shank has Sabri's initials, date and production number, 322. A solid brass plaque stating "Created by Eyup Sabri Istanbul Turkey" is mounted inside the blue velvet lined chest. A pipe tamper carved by Sabri is included with the pipe along with the Certificate of Authenticity. This pipe is in excellent condition for a pre-smoked pipe with no visible chips or cracks. It is an opportunity to own a unique piece of meerschaum history and artistry carved by the Master of all Masters.

Master Carver Eyup Sabri was born in Eskisehir, Turkey in 1948 and started carving at age 6 learning from his father, a famous carver in his time. Sabri went to school and became an engineer by profession and carved meerschaum pipes as a hobby until Mr. Irving Korn, founder of Royal Meerschaum Pipe Co., convinced him to carve pipes full time. His engineering background gave him a better understanding of the raw meerschaum qualities, and this coupled with his perfectionist skill and rare artistic talent made him a supreme master. Sabri was known for triple-dipping his pipes in a special wax formula and for making his stems from water buffalo horn. Sadly he passed away May 16, 2005.

The pipe comes from the estate of Patrick Dean Hall of North Carolina, an avid gardener, lover of animals, and life-long passionate meerschaum pipe collector who loved to smoke his pipes.

This meerschaum pipe is hand carved from genuine 100% solid block meerschaum and was imported directly from Turkey. After the pipe was carved it was dipped in a special wax formula to provide a protective coating and to also draw out smoke particles and tar. The pipe will color even more over time as it is smoked. The stem is made of water buffalo horn, a specialty of Sabri.
