S. Yanik Signed Monk and Open Fish Meerschaum Pipe - From the estate of Irving Korn, this Sadik Yanik pipe was carved in the late 1980's from the finest meerschaum. It depicts a monk standing on the shank hanging onto an open mouth fish holding a smooth pipe bowl. The pipe has a long smooth knurl that attaches to a scrolled stem. It comes with a carved pipe tamper. It is all carved in fine detail. Great collector's pipe as well as a great smoking pipe.
Master Carver S. Yanik began his carving career at age 13 learning from his father. Keeping in the family tradition he taught his son, also a great carver, however neither father nor son carved in the elaborate and ornamental style with such fine detail as Sadik Yanik, a true master of this trade.
The pipe includes a certified signature card from Jerry Korn stating that this pipe is from the private collection of his father, Irving Korn. The pipe comes in a custom made blue velvet chest with a brass plaque which reads "Created by S. Yanik Istanbul Turkey."
This meerschaum pipe is hand carved from genuine 100% Solid Block Meerschaum and imported directly from Turkey by Irving Korn. After the pipe was carved it was dipped in beeswax to provide a protective coating and to also draw out smoke particles and tar. The pipe will color over time as it is smoked. The stem is made of a special Amberoid Acrylic for a nice finished look and long lasting durability.
