Meerschaum Lined Poker African Pipewood Churchwarden Pipe - Little sister to our huge African meerschaum lined poker pipe, this smaller pipe is also a black rusticated finish. The bowl is lined with solid block African meerschaum. A solid metal fitting screws into the pipe bowl and attaches to a black vulcanite churchwarden stem. The Kilimanjaro rhinoceros logo is stamped in white on the side of the stem.

Stamped "Kikob Made in Tanganyika" on the flat underside of the pipe bowl, this is an authentic and rare pipe from Africa.

In 1955 Kenyan businessmen from Nairobi established the Tanganyika Meerschaum Corporation after a meerschaum mine was discovered close to the surface on Mount Kilimanjaro. The meerschaum from this part of East Africa was known to be tougher, less porous and priced less than Turkish meerschaum. Tanganyika and Zanzibar merged and became known as Tanzania in October of 1964. The company closed soon after.

Although the pipe is over a half century old it is unsmoked in brand new pristine condition. The pipe comes with a protective black velvet drawstring pouch.
