The inside lining is made of Turkish meerschaum to provide a cool dry smoke as meerschaum is known to do. Since meerschaum acts as a natural filter there is no need for a traditional filter, however. if you want you can add one. A decorative silver color band connects the shank to the solid black slightly bent saddle stem.

Dapper, the maker's brand name, is stamped on the side of the shank. Dapper meerschaum lined briar pipes are made in Turkey.
